After Lima 1997, Quebec 2001, Dakar 2005 and Luxemburg 2009, RIPESS (Network for the Promotion of Social and Solidarity Economy) Europe is taking a step forward by organizing its Founding Congress. The Congress is open to all solidarity-based economy networks - territorial networks or inter-sectorial platforms - both formal and informal - at national, regional, inter-regional and European levels.
RIPESS was founded in 2002, after the second meeting for the Globalization of Solidarity in Quebec. The network aims to bring together actors and organizations of the social and solidarity economy sector at international level and gain recognition for the contribution of alternative modes of production, consumption, savings and exchange. The aim is to achieve a more just kind of economic regulation and a solidarity-based development model.
The RIPESS' first goal was to develop permanent networking between actors and promoters of social and solidarity economy of all continents.
